I went to a lecture last night by Judy Sheppard and it got me thinking...but I don't know how to articulate what I am thinking. It was moving and inspirational and all of those things. But why is our world such a place where a brutality has to happen to get people to listen, and not all people but people who choose to listen.

How does one change minds? yes education...but if that doesn't work? Personally it got me to think about one of my uncles... I know he hates people, I know he would hurt someone based on who they are. How does one go about trying to change this? I am part of his family, do I have some special power? or would he hurt me for who I am as well? Would it be worth it to come out to my extended family and have him find out and flood him with information...will that change his views? or re affirm them?
